We're back with another OG tale, we're still searching this long-dead wizard's tower for a Cult of the Dragon member who has decided to leave the cult and asked us for help. He promised the blue dragon mask as payment for our services. As a reminder, this group consists of:

Tsedek, our charming Tiefling Rogue

Itanis, a devious High Elf Wizard, fond of controlling any situation we may find ourselves in

Leoven, our quiet but effective Wood Elf Ranger

Magnus, the Human Paladin of Heironious, he has followed a vengeance path

Elle, the small but sparky High Elf Wizard, fond of blowing things up with lots of fire

When last we left this group we had cleared several levels of the wizard's tower and made our way to the level marked with an hourglass. The first room with the teleportation circle was empty, but the very next room was occupied by a fire elemental and two earth elementals. After a bit of bickering between Magnus and Elle, the fight was on and the elementals lost. But, Magnus did take quite a bit of damage. So as we're catching our breath post-battle, Magnus decides to do some healing while Tsedek and Leoven explore the room some.

While Leoven is completely unsuccessful in finding anything in the room, Tsedek instinctually homes in on the chest. After a bit of pondering and tinkering, he finds and disables a trap and gets it open. Inside the chest were a couple of scrolls, protection against fire elemental and protection against earth elemental. He kind of chuckles and says "Its ironic we find the thing we need against a monster, after defeating the monster". And he hands the scrolls over to the wizards.

Tsedek takes the lead at this point and starts going down the hall to the north, but immediately comes across a short side hall to a door. Upon inspection the door appears to be unsecured, so he opens it.

In this room there's work surfaces with notes, unlit braziers, and a whirlwind in the middle. This whirlwind has the distinct sparkle of gemstones inside it. Tsedek, being the sort that's always on the lookout for cash flow, contemplates for a moment then sends in his mage hand to attempt to grab one of the gemstones from the whirlwind.

That did not work, as soon as the mage hand disrupted the whirlwind a gem flew out, hit a wall and shattered, leaving an elemental in its place. Tsedek, Leoven, and Elle took that one out fairly easily and you'd think we'd leave well enough alone. But, we didn't.

Tsedek called Magnus and Itanis into the room and set a perimeter up around the whirlwind, the idea being we'd catch the things as they flew out of the whirlwind. So the 5 of us and some spiderwebs provided by Leoven are surrounding this thing mostly when Tsedek sends the mage hand in to touch the whirlwind again.

Sure enough, out flies another gem right at Magnus. He completely misses grabbing it, it smashes against him releasing a water elemental and it was game on. The water elemental of course envelopes Magnus, who starts fighting from the inside. Leoven starts shooting arrows at the elemental, and Elle tosses a lightning bolt at it.

But then, the water elemental reaches out and sticks its appendages into the whirlwind, letting two more gems loose. One flies right at Magnus, who was quite occupied, so it hit the wall behind him letting an earth elemental loose. The other flew at Elle, who tried mightily to catch it but *just* missed, so that gem hit the wall and shatters and summons another earth elemental.

And that's where this week ended!
